Tidbits about daylight-saving time.

Benjamin Franklin is credited with inventing the notion of daylight time.

Germany and Austria were the first countries to implement the time change during World War I.

Between 1945 and 1966, states and localities were free to choose whether to observe daylight-saving time as well as the length it would be observed. During that period, there were seven time changes along a 35-mile stretch of Route 2 between Moundsville, W.Va., and Steubenville.

The twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul operated on different time tables with respect to daylight time for a period during the 1960s.

Students at Ohio University, in Athens, have been known to hold riots in the spring, when daylight time causes bars to close one hour early.
