Two killed in in Route 39 crash

SALINEVILLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a car crash that killed two people and injured two more.

The wreck occurred about 9:53 a.m. Thursday on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township.

Cynthia L. Pelley, 35, of 10 Summit Drive, was driving a 2007 car east. Amanda Parish, 21, of Hazel Run Road, was driving a car west.

Parish’s vehicle went left of center and struck Pelley’s car head-on, the patrol reported. Pelley’s car then struck a guardrail and came to a rest on top of it.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Two people in Pelley’s car were injured. Shannon E. Rowe, 21, and Shawn M, Wood, 2, both of Market Street, were taken to East Liverpool City Hospital. Rowe was wearing a seatbelt and the child was in a safety seat.

The patrol said the investigation is continuing.
