Ice cream for safety in Boardman

BOARDMAN — This month, children’s safety may be rewarded with sweet treats.

The Boardman Optimists and police department will kick off Bicycle Safety Helmet Month at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Dairy Queen, 6120 Market St.

Through this month, township police officers will issue safety citations to young people spotted wearing helmets while riding their bicycles. The citation will be good for a small cone at the township Dairy Queen location owned by Mary and Dean Paidas.
