Byler’s bomb lifts Livi over Action


Astro Falcons, Rondinelli and Wharmby all won easily.

STRUTHERS — Zach Byler hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to lead Livi Steel to a 5-4 win over Action Physical Therapy in the Class B League Wednesday at Cene Park.

Shane Liska added two hits for Livi (3-1) and Zach Cuffman went the first five innings for the win, allowing just two runs with four strikeouts. Matt Schultz allowed one earned run to pick up the save.

For Action (1-3), Josh Fyffe had two triples, while Matt Reynolds added a single and a triple. Josh Harkulich went the distance in defeat, with seven strikeouts, allowing just two earned runs.

Astro Falcons 11,
Youngstown Express 4

The Express had more hits (12-11) but Astro remained unbeaten (4-0).

Joe Bako and Mike Dota had three hits each for Astro, while Mark Turnbull added a pair of singles. Nick Baiamonte went the first six innings for the win.

Chad Kobylanski, Kevin Monti, Dan Gallagher, Luke Rambo, and Adam Lindsey had two hits each for the Express (0-4).

Rondinelli 13,
Simon Roofing 0

Jim Kinnick tossed a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts as Rondinelli won its fourth straight game.

Matt Katich had three hits and drove home four runs for Rondinelli, while Chuck Olesky also had three hits, and Cory Hitt, and Marc Kanesky two hits each.

Anthony Roberts, Rich Tisone, and Mike Barone had singles for Simon Roofing (0-4).

Wharmby 11,
Roth Brothers 0

Wharmby put the game away with a six-run sixth inning.

Marc Babyak, Ben Bectol, Mike Nagy and Chaz Sanfilippo had two hits each for Wharmby (3-1) with Bectol having a triple and four RBIs.

Matt Tyson tossed a shutout with one walk and one strikeout.

Stefan Stelk had a double and a single for Roth (0-4).

Livi Steel 4

Rondinelli pounded out 14 hits to win their third straight Monday night. Matt Katich had three hits, including two doubles, while Frank Rosile and Marc Kanesky added two hits each. Cory McGinnis pitched a complete game for the win.

Bobby Herberger, Zach Byler, Josh Swepis, and Andy Onufrak had two hits each for Livi.
