Annual Challenge Night set by quilt guild

SALEM — United Quilt Guild will hold its annual Challenge Night banquet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Salem, where there will be a fundraising raffle and an awards ceremony.

Preparations for the “Crazy Crayon Scramble via Batiks” challenge began in September, when members blindly choose three crayons from a bag. The colors were to be incorporated into a quilt or quilted batik fabric garment that will be judged by members and guest during the Challenge Night event.

Entries are to be placed in a brown paper bag, marked with the category, with the official baggie of crayons and left at the church between 5:45 and 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Members whose last names begin with the initials A-M and members bringing a guest are asked to take finger foods to share.

The guild meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the cafeteria of United Elementary School.

A “Grandma’s Attic” quilt show will be held June 29 and 30 at Sebring McKinley High School as a benefit for battered women and children of Columbiana County.
