Meese’s five-hitter leads Wharmby’s to 5-0 Class B win


Cene Park was busy over the weekend.

STRUTHERS — Adam Meese tossed a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead Wharmby Sports past Youngstown Express 5-0 in a Class B baseball game Monday at Cene Park.

Mike Conelose, Marc Babyak, T.J. Stoian, and Chaz Sanfilippo had two hits each for Wharmby (2-1). Ben Bectol added a triple.

Kevin Cox had three hits for the Express (0-3).

Simon Roofing 4

Dan Kubala had two hits and three RBIs for R&J Trucking (2-1), which scored seven runs in the first inning.

Josh Gardner added a triple and Xavier Godoy had two hits in the victory.

Mike Barone had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Simon (0-3).

Action Physical Therapy 9,
Roth Brothers 5

Action Physical (1-2) scored five times in the first inning and added a three-run sixth.

Chuck Zimoski and Josh Fulmer had two hits each for Action, while Kevin McCullough went five innings for the win on the mound.

Jeff Miller, Mike Prachick and Dan Sacui had two hits each for Roth (0-3).

Dave Sugar Excavating 10

Joe Koch had three hits and four RBIs, while Corey Susany and Dean Porter added two hits each for the Astros (3-0). Porter also had three RBIs.

Paul Logar had three hits while Jon Brady and Justin Shaffer had two hits each for Sugar (2-1). Matt Weir got the win with a save going to Mike Kelly. Dane Dobson, who had a triple, took the loss in relief for Dave Sugar.

The two teams combined for 21 hits and nine errors.

Joe Leeworthy bested Lou Coppola on the mound as Livi (2-0) edged R&J Trucking (1-1).

Leeworthy had six strikeouts while Coppola had 10. Both allowed two earned runs.

Josh Swepis had a double and two RBIs for the winners while Andy Onufrak added a pair of hits.

Godoy and Gardner had two hits for R&J with one of Godoy’s being a double. Tyler Manfull had RBIs for the losers.

Simon Roofing 8

Dave Sugar (2-0) pounded out 14 hits against Simon Roofing (0-2).

Andrew Grzebieniak had four hits, Mike Frasco three and Eric Pirtz a home run for the winners.

Mike Olenych picked up the win for Sugar going the first five innings.

Richie Tisone and Jeff Bruno had a pair of hits each for Simon Roofing.
