New superintendent appointed for educational service center

The new superintendent has been with the educational center for 12 years.

WARREN — Victoria A. Giovangnoli, a veteran of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, has been named its new superintendent.

The center board selected Giovangnoli, the current associate superintendent, to replace Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio effective Aug. 1.

Giovangnoli, of Rootstown, will be paid $100,000 annually, the board decided Thursday.

Giovangnoli, who has been employed with the center for 12 years, said she wants to improve student academic achievement by having the supervisors in instruction, special education and technology at the center work closer together.

A history in education

Giovangnoli was named associate superintendent in 2005 and served as assistant superintendent from 2001 to 2005. She served as assistant to the superintendent from 1995 to 2000.

Before coming to the TCESC, she was curriculum/staff development consultant with the Portage County Educational Center.

Giovangnoli received her bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University in 1974 and her master’s degree in education from KSU in 1991.

She received her superintendent’s license in 2001. She has done post-graduate studies at KSU and Ashland University, and is currently an adjunct professor at Ashland.

D’Ambrosio, who retires effective July 31, has 36 years in education. He’s the former superintendent of Girard schools.

D’Ambrosio had previously retired as center superintendent, but was rehired to serve until July 31 until his replacement was selected.
