Judge resentences probation violators


Two were sent to prison, and the rest will do time in the county jail.

MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Dobson resentenced several probation violators recently.

According to court records:

Joseph Byerly, 32, of Baldwin Avenue, Sharon, had his probation revoked and was resentenced to six to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail. In November 2005, he had been placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor forgery. In April, he admitted violating his probation by using cocaine and Vicodin without a prescription and failing to abide by his curfew.

Deana Gammon, 23, of South Stateline Road, Sharon, was resentenced to 40 days to one year in the Mercer County Jail. She was on probation for misdemeanor use/possession of drug paraphernalia and had failed to report as instructed.

Andrew Shoop, 20, address given as Mercer County Jail, was resentenced to one to three years in prison. On Nov. 28, 2005, he was placed on 18 months’ probation for theft of services for failing to pay for a hotel room. He violated his probation by pleading guilty to new criminal charges.

Varick Wel Vanistendael, 31, of Harrisville, was resentenced to two years in prison. He had been placed on 30 months’ probation for harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, all misdemeanors, on March 3, 2005. He violated his probation by pleading guilty to new criminal charges.

Leroy Anderson Jr., 67, of South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, was resentenced to three to six months in jail. He had been placed on one year’s probation in 2006 for use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. He violated his probation by having new criminal charges brought against him.
