Charity dog show, hike looking for contestants

BOARDMAN — Animal Charity is in need of dog contestants and prize donations for its third annual Dog Show/Charity Hike from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 3 in Boardman Park.

The event will be raising funds for Animal Charity’s wildlife rehabilitation, and humane and education programs. Animal Charity is the only licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility and the only active humane agent in Mahoning County.

All dog entrants must be spayed or neutered and have all current vaccinations to be eligible. Mixed breeds are welcome.

The cost to enter the dog show or charity hike is $15 for each event. Dogs will be judged in several categories, with prizes donated by local businesses being awarded to the owners of the winning animals.

The charity hike will be through the park’s trails.

Participants can bring their dogs with them. Even those without dogs are welcome.

During this event, all dogs must be on a leash held by their owner, and all dog owners will be required to clean up their pet’s waste.

Animal Charity needs prizes to award to the winning dogs and for raffle drawings. Anyone may donate valued prizes, and all donations are tax deductible.
