Police skeptical of how boy says he was shot
YOUNGSTOWN — A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left thigh around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday near Watkins Christian Academy, a private school on East High Avenue, police said. Police and the boy’s father were skeptical of his story of what happened after finding a .25-caliber handgun and one live round in the Chevrolet Blazer he was driving. The boy said a man approached the vehicle — as it traveled 25 mph on East High — and fired one shot. Police found no bullet hole in the vehicle.
