Kiwanis Clubhonors adviser
CANFIELD -- Honored by Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club during a meeting April 25 at A La Cart was Ron Ples, who has served for 20 years as Key Club adviser at Canfield High School.
Dr. Abby Barone, principal of the school, spoke of Ples and his dedication to the students. Under his leadership, the club has received many accolades. Ples will retire from teaching at the end of the school year.
Sherry Creighton was named as the Key Club adviser for the new school year.
Kiwanian Barb Smith served as a judge of single service projects and oracle presentations at the Kiwanis Ohio District Key Club Convention April 27-29 in Columbus.

Seniors meet in Coitsville
COITSVILLE -- The next meeting of Coitsville Senior Citizens will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall. The date was wrong in the Senior Citizen column on Sunday.
Animal sheltersponsors cruise-in
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Moose Family Center, 32 Shenango St., will be the setting for a cruise-in and a Chinese and silent auction to be held as a fundraiser by Strayhaven Animal Shelter.
The event is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot at the center.
Those who register classic cars and street rods in the event have a chance to win a grand prize of 100, and more than 100 items have been donated by local, regional and national businesses for the auctions.
All proceeds will benefit for animals at the shelter.
