"Frontline: Spying on the Home Front" (9 p.m., PBS): The National Security Agency's domestic surveillance program is in the spotlight as reporter Hedrick Smith looks at the collision between civil liberties and perceived security risks. According to Smith, even former government intelligence officials are concerned that advances in communication and new security threats could undermine citizens' privacy. Smith details an FBI data sweep of about 250,000 Las Vegas vacationers in December 2003 -- a dragnet he says was prompted by a perceived al-Qaida threat to the city.
"Gilmore Girls" (8 p.m., the CW): They're the good-bye girls this week as the groundbreaking dramedy bows out after seven seasons of romantic misadventures, junk-food binging and turbo-charged banter. Diehard fans had hoped to have one more go-around with Lorelai, Rory and all the daffy citizens of Stars Hollow. But when lengthy contract negotiations with series stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel recently reached an impasse, The CW decided to pull the plug. Fortunately, the show's last episode was designed to serve as either a season or series finale. It has the whole gang gathering to throw a big graduation party for Rory.
"Academy of Country Music Awards" (8 p.m., CBS): Not only is Reba McEntire hosting the 42nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards, she's singing a duet with first "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson. Another "Idol" champ, Carrie Underwood, is scheduled to perform, along with Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert and others.
