Ted Strickland received the highest inaugural approval rating for a governor in the 26-year history of the Ohio Poll, conducted by the University of Cincinnati's Institute for Policy Research. Here are the inaugural approval ratings for the four Ohio governors in that time period:
Ted Strickland, 68 percentin 2007.
Bob Taft, 40 percent in 1999.
George V. Voinovich, 61 percentin 1991.
Richard Celeste, 32 percentin 1983.
