Groh helps lift Campbell



Andrew Turocy struck out 11 batters as Canfield routed Niles, 13-0.
SALEM -- Junior Brian Groh went 5-for-5 and drove in four runs Wednesday to lead Campbell Memorial High to a 10-4 victory over Salem in a Metro Athletic Conference baseball game .
Dan Sacui went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Rich Tisone added two singles for the Red Devils (5-7, 3-4 MAC). Nicco Magnolia, a junior, added a pair of singles, and he tossed a complete game, allowing seven hits.
David Wright singled twice for Salem (8-13, 3-8).

CANFIELD -- Winning pitcher Andrew Turocy (5-0) struck out 11 batters and walked one in the four innings he pitched.
Mike Hoelzel's two hits included a double and he drove in four RBIs.
Matt Keating and John Manzoian had two hits each for the Cardinals (21-2, 11-0 MAC) while Scott Harmon, Josh Dankovich and John Pitzulo had two RBIs each.
For Niles (8-8), Billy Eddy, Josh Rozenberger and Anthony Capograco had hits.

STRUTHERS -- Dennis Walton's two hits included a double and he drove in three runs for the Wildcats (11-8, 5-5 MAC).
Mike Barone contributed two hits and three RBIs while Mike Vitucci and L.J. Schromosky each had two hits.

BOARDMAN -- Corey Keller drove in two runs with his third-inning single and Anthony Lavolpa had the other RBI for the Spartans (7-10, 3-3 Federal League).
Winning pitcher Cory Susany (5-1) struck out four and walked three.
Mooney 8, Springfield 2
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Tony Brunetti and Tim Marlowe had three hits each to lead Mooney in a non-league game. Drew Fitzpatrick and Danny Eich combined on a three-hitter for the Cardinals (15-3).
Todd Kibby went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Springfield.
Chaney 7, Wilson 6
YOUNGSTOWN -- Winning pitcher Pat Allen struck out 13 batters and walked two for the Cowboys (3-18). Allen aided his cause by tripling twice to drive in three runs.
Shawn Wheland also tripled while Francisco Morales' two hits included a double. Joe Morales also had two hits.
For Wilson, Victor Cardarelli and Luis Charriez each had two hits.

WARREN -- Winning pitcher Greg Williams (3-1) scattered seven hits, striking out five and walking one for the Raiders (10-6, 3-1 Steel Valley Conference).
Bret Kingery and Nolan Ingram each had two hits while Brian McClung doubled and drove in three runs.
Warren JFK is 15-6-1, 1-4.
Lisbon 10, Mineral Ridge 9
LISBON -- Corey Hile drove home Alec Beech with a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh for the game-winner.
Hile and Kyle Hiscox each had three hits for the Blue Devils (2-12, 2-9 Inter Tri-County League Tier One). Evan Walton went 4-for-4 for Mineral Ridge and Jason Ferguson had three hits.
The game began Tuesday but was suspended by lightning.

WELLSVILLE -- Jerod Barker pitched a four-hitter for the Blue Devils (11-6, 9-4 ITCL Tier Two).
Matt Kalbfell, John Porterfield, Dave Drevna and Dave Snowden had RBIs in the four-run fourth inning.
Randall Ludwiczak had a two-run single and Brandon Moherman doubled.
Lakeview 13, Newton Falls 0
NEWTON FALLS -- Lakeview had 12 hits and pitcher Nick Schuller allowed just one in a five-inning complete game.
Ryan Nisbett doubled twice and singled for the Tigers (10-9, 7-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference) while Eric Pirtz, Mark Novotny and Dave DeJacimo all had two hits, including one double apiece.
Aaron Walker singled for Newton Falls (4-14, 2-9).
Hubbard 5, Girard 3
HUBBARD -- Bo Slemons' two hits included a RBI double for the Eagles (11-6, 6-3 TAC). John Madeline also had two hits.
Frank Palestro (4-1) scattered five hits for the win.
For the Indians (12-5, 6-3), Nick Devore had two hits.
