Brobeck leads Salem to second-place tie



SALEM -- Salem junior Sarah Brobeck placed first in the shot put and the discus to finish as the high scorer in the field events, helping lead the Quakers to a second-place tie with Poland at Friday's Cope Invitational girls track and field meet at Reilly Stadium.
Shaker Heights junior Shaniqua McGinnis won the 200-meter, 400 and helped her first-place team to victories in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, to finish with the high points total in the running events.
Poland senior Lauren Fithian won the 800 and helped the Bulldogs place second in the 4x800 relay. Salem sophomore won the 1600 and the 3200, while Lowellville senior Rachel Mariotti won both hurdling events. Struthers junior Ashley Galbraith set a meet record in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 5 inches. She placed second in the event at last year's state meet.
Canfield junior Audra Frimpong, a two-time All-Ohioan in the long jump, finished first in the 100-meter dash and the long jump.
