Ohio man tries to sell his 2-year-old son

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — A 2-year-old boy who police say was offered for sale by his father has been removed from his parents’ custody.

“The child is safe and in foster care,” Butler County Children Services spokeswoman Denise Winkler said. Jason McCarthy, 30, has been charged with child endangering, police said Wednesday.

A woman told police that McCarthy approached her early Monday in a drug store parking lot and asked if she wanted to buy his son. McCarthy was being held on $5,500 bond pending an appearance April 18 in Middletown Municipal Court.
