Rangers 2, Islanders 1, OT
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Michael Nylander deflected in Brendan Shanahan's shot late in overtime to give the Rangers the victory in the first game between the rivals since Chris Simon's stick attack. Nylander planted himself in front of Rick DiPietro during an overtime power play and knocked the puck in with only 48.9 seconds showing. It gave the Rangers their fifth straight victory. The Islanders were playing their eighth game since Simon was suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs for his two-handed stick swing at Rangers forward Ryan Hollweg March 8. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 34 shots for the Rangers. Colton Orr, Hollweg's hard-hitting linemate, scored his second NHL goal and first in 18 games in the second period. Alexei Yashin tied it for the Islanders with a power-play goal in the third.
Flames 3, Blackhawks 2
CHICAGO -- Roman Hamrlik scored off a faceoff with 6:11 left in the third period to snap a tie. Kristian Huselius and Stephane Yelle also scored for the Flames, who won their third straight. Radim Vrbata and Denis Arkhipov scored for Chicago, which lost its fifth straight. Khabibulin blocked 27 shots. Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff made 29 saves.
