NCAA WOMEN'S ROUNDUP Regional semifinals
Mississippi 90, Oklahoma 82
DAYTON -- Mississippi is going to the regional final, and Courtney Paris is going home. Armintie Price scored 31 points, Ashley Awkward added 25 for Ole Miss, which fastbreaked and trapped its way to a win in the Dayton Regional. Next up for the Rebels (24-10) is Tennessee Tuesday, with a spot in the Final Four awaiting the winner. The Lady Vols topped Ole Miss 81-69 at home Feb. 15 in their only meeting this season. Paris led Oklahoma (28-5) with 31 points and 20 rebounds. Alliesha Easley added 12 points for the Rebels, who will be making their fifth trip to a regional championship game.
Tennessee 65, Marist 46
DAYTON -- Candace Parker hit her first eight shots and the top-seeded Lady Vols used a 14-0 first-half run to take control, ending Marist's tournament run. Parker roamed the lane, frequently leaping over the smaller Red Foxes, for 16 points. Shannon Bobbitt and Sidney Spencer each had 11 for Tennessee (31-3), which improved its record to 22-4 in regional semifinals. Meg Dahlman had 16 points and Rachele Fitz 13 for Marist (29-6), which had never won an NCAA tournament game until last weekend. Parker finished 8-of-10 from the field with nine rebounds. The Lady Vols shot 58 percent while holding Marist to 39 percent.
Purdue 78, Georgia 65
DALLAS -- Katie Gearlds had 30 points and nine rebounds to help Purdue overcome a big early deficit and advance to the Dallas Regional final. Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds, while Danielle Campbell had 11 points for Purdue (31-5), which won its 10th straight game. Gearlds was 10-of-16 shooting with four 3-pointers. The Boilermakers will play North Carolina or George Washington Tuesday in their first regional final since 2003, which came two years after they were national runner-ups. Tasha Humphrey had 20 points to lead Georgia (27-7), which was in the round of 16 for the fifth straight season. It was the fourth time in that stretch the Lady Bulldogs didn't advance past that.
LSU 55, Florida State 43
FRESNO, Calif. -- Quianna Chaney scored eight of her 22 points during a 10-0 run to open the second half, and third-seeded LSU moved into the Fresno Regional final Saturday night. The Lady Tigers (29-7) have the stingiest defense in the nation, allowing fewer than 50 points per game. And they were at the top of their game against the overmatched Seminoles (24-10). Florida State was held to a season-low 18 points in the first half and then went nearly five minutes at the start of the second half without scoring, falling behind 37-18 on Chaney's fastbreak layup. She also hit two of her four 3-pointers in the run, finishing 9-for-16 from the field. The Lady Tigers coasted from there.
Connecticut 78, N.C. State 71
FRESNO, Calif. -- Charde Houston and Tina Charles sent Connecticut on another second-half surge that ended North Carolina State's emotion-fueled run through the tournament. Houston scored 18 points and Charles added 17 to help the top-seeded Huskies take control early in the second half before they held on for a victory that ended coach Kay Yow's inspiring season. North Carolina State got off to a fast start and had the Huskies so frustrated heading into the half that coach Geno Auriemma shoved one of his assistant coaches at the end of the half while arguing with the officials. But then Houston and Charles took control early in the second half to send the Huskies (32-3) into tonight's Fresno Regional final against LSU (28-7). The loss ended N.C. State's remarkable run since Yow's return from cancer treatment in late January. The Wolfpack (25-10) had won 12 of 14 games to advance to their first regional semifinal since 2001, but lost for the 10th time in 11 trips to this round under their Hall of Fame coach.
