Famed pianist, cellistwill perform at recital
SALEM -- Pianist Donna Lee and cellist Keith Robinson will perform a recital of music by Beethoven on at 3 p.m. April 1 in the KSU-Salem City Center Auditorium. The program will feature three sonatas for cello and piano, as well as "Variations on a Theme" by Mozart. Admission is free.
Both performers are on the music faculty of Kent State University and have performed extensively worldwide. Lee made her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra and has appeared at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Lincoln Center in New York.
Robinson, a founding member of the Miami String Quartet, has been active as a chamber musician, recitalist and soloist since his graduation from the Curtis Institute of Music.
The KSU-Salem City Center is the former Salem Middle School, 230 N. Lincoln Ave., downtown. Free parking is available at the rear and side of the building and at the municipal parking lot on Second Street.
Three doo-wop groups headline benefit concert
KENT -- Tickets are now on sale for A Doo-Wop Celebration, to be held May 5 at The Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St. Three of the most popular vocal groups of the doo-wop era will headline two benefit concerts, to be held at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.: The Drifters featuring Charlie Thomas, The Tokens featuring Jay Siegel and The Marcels.
Tickets are 30, and a limited number of Gold Circle tickets, which include a private dinner reception with the vocal groups, are available at 65 each. 'Wonderful Town'coming to Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Westminster College Celebrity Series will continue with "Wonderful Town,"which comes to Orr Auditorium at 8 p.m. April 16.
"The musical is about two sisters, Ruth and Eileen Sherwood, from Columbus, Ohio, who go to Greenwich Village in New York in the 1930s in search of careers and, maybe, love, and end up conquering Manhattan," said Gene DeCaprio, director of the series. "The wide-eyed sisters share all sorts of comic misadventures. Leonard Bernstein's pop score overflows with great melody and a joyful vitality. The witty lyrics are by Broadway greats Comden and Green and there are lots of high energy dance numbers."

Greenville Symphonysets season finale
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Greenville Symphony Orchestra's spring concert, which concludes the 78th season, will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center on the campus of Thiel College.
It will include favorites like "Hoe Down" from Copland's "Rodeo" and Rossini's "Overture to William Tell." Music Director Michael Gelfand will hand over his baton to former Thiel President Lance Masters to conduct Bizet's "Carmen Suite No. 1."
Other works will include "Pavane" by Faure and Gershwin's "Lullaby." "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky and Berlioz's "March to the Scaffold" from "Symphonie Fantastique" will re-energize the night, which will culminate with Dvorak's "From the New World."
The Keystone Charter School Choir will perform in the lobby of the Passavant Center before the concert. Parking is free in the lot adjacent to the Passavant Center. Tickets are available at the door. There is a senior citizen discount; children and students are admitted free.
Easter Egg hunt
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mill Creek MetroParks' annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 31on the Judge Morley Pavilion lawn in the Wick Recreation Area. The egg hunt is for children 4 to 10 years old; the Easter Bunny will visit a special hunt area for children 2 to 3 years old and their parents. The adult egg toss will be held after the hunt. NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Westminster College Dance Theatre's largest production is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday in Orr Auditorium. "We have an eclectic group of dances that includes everything from swing dance and tap to modern dance and hip hop," said Regina Sharbaugh, associate director of admissions and advisor to the group.
