SteelHounds rally for 4-3 victory on Christian's goal in 3rd period



The SteelHounds remained tied for the fourth playoff spot with Oklahoma City.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Youngstown SteelHounds scored three unanswered goals in the third period, overcoming a three-goal deficit, to defeat the Memphis RiverKings, 4-3 in a Central Hockey League game Friday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.
The SteelHounds (33-19-10) remained tied for the fourth playoff spot in the Northern Conference with Oklahoma City (34-21-8), which defeated Wichita, 3-2.
Youngstown trailed 3-0 early in the second period, but Stephen Margeson's power play goal -- on assists from Garrett Larson and Jeff Christian -- started the comeback with 7:02 elapsed.
After the intermission, the SteelHounds dominated the third period, out-shooting Memphis 13-7 and scoring the three even-strength goals.
Shaun Landolt made it 3-2 just 2:21 into the period on assists by Tab Lardner and Matt Hanson.
Then, with 12:29 remaining, Lardner and Hanson teamed up to feed Dallas Anderson with the tying goal.
Christian scores winning goal
Christian scored the game-winner with 8:54 remaining on assists by Josh Reed and Kelly Sickavish.
Ryan Held (power play), Jason Sessa and Ryan Campbell (shorthanded) scored goals for Memphis (39-18-6) in a span of 5:28 in the second period.
Brad Roberts stopped 29 shots to pick up the win for Youngstown, while the RiverKings' Larry Sterling made 33 saves. Sterling was pulled for an extra attacker with 1:04 remaining but Roberts and the SteelHounds defense kept Memphis from tying the score.
Youngstown out-shot Memphis 37-32.
The SteelHounds continue their road trip tonight in Tulsa, Okla., to play the Oilers at 8:35.
