'Spiritual Fitness' event
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will present "Spiritual Fitness with Nancy Mramor, Ph.D.," at Villa Maria Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14.
Spiritual Fitness is a guidebook for anyone willing to incorporate spirituality into their health practice a workbook full of exercises to create the highest levels of mind, body and spirit health by relying on mind, body and spiritual practices. Spiritual Fitness was awarded winner of the Coalition of Visionary Resources Finalists Award.
Mramor is a licensed clinical, health and education psychologist and specializes in education and health issues. Her approach is one of treating the mind, body and spirit in holistic fashion, and has been featured on more than 150 television and radio stations.

Social action presentation
YOUNGSTOWN -- A general meeting of the United Methodist Women of Richard Brown Memorial Church will be April 5 at the church, 1205 Elm St., and will be followed by a presentation on social action given by Shirley McGowan.
The group's executive committee will meet at 12:15 p.m. A light lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
'Holy Week Retreat Day'
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Education and Spirituality will present a "Holy Week Retreat Day: Trustfully Waiting for the Light of Resurrection" at Villa Maria Community Center on April 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Presenter Eileen Novotny will urge those attending to look at the roots of their faith and lose all that holds them bound to their crosses and share in the joy of resurrection and a new life. Novotny is a frequent presenter and keynoter for parish liturgical in-services and staff retreats.

Church's Senior Day
YOUNGSTOWN -- Senior Day will be observed at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 7 S. Garland Ave., at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The guest speakers will be Mahoning County Auditor Michael Sciortino and Treasurer Lisa Antonini. Their topics will be Homestead Exemption, real estate taxes, delinquent taxes and tax lien sales.
Fun night for teens
YOUNGTOWN -- The EndTime Warriors Youth Ministry will have a fun night for teens and young adults at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Metro Assembly at 2230 South Ave. The program is open to the community.
"RIOT," the youth ministry of Victory Christian Church, the Calvary Assembly youth ministry and Judah E, rapper and preacher from Cleveland, will be special guests.
Contemporary concert
BOARDMAN -- Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, is having a contemporary religious music concert at 6:30 p.m. today to help raise money for the Bethel Lutheran Free Medical Clinic in Biloxi, Miss.
Good Hope members will be traveling to the area on a mission trip over Easter, with some members building houses and others volunteering in the clinic.
Lecture about prophet
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Imam Shaker ElSayed, director of the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., will present a free public lecture about "Prophet Muhammad in the Context of Abrahamic Tradition" at 6 p.m. Monday in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall at Slippery Rock University.
The address is part of the political science department's Muslim Summit.
Atkins Family to perform
CARROLLTON, Ohio -- The Atkins Family will perform in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday in Carrollton Bible Chapel, 365 Steubenville Road S.E. The program is open to the public and a love offering will be taken.
The singing Atkins Family, based in Greer, S.C., and active for more than 30 years, travels the country singing and ministering, filling 125 performance dates annually.
Music ministry team
NORTH LIMA -- Shining Through, a music ministry team from Bluffton (Ohio) University, will lead worship at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
The local appearance is part of the group's winter/spring student ministry outreach program.
Rosary Cenacle planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 South Bella Vista Avenue and the Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group invite the public to a Rosary Cenacle at 6:30 p.m. April 4 at the Shrine of our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted in Youngstown.
Refreshments will be served following in the social hall.
Food pantry to be open
EAST PALESTINE -- Grace Lutheran Food Pantry will be open from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday.
Anyone living in the East Palestine School District and those with limited income are welcome.
Grace Lutheran Church is at Grant and Walnut streets. Those coming are asked to use the Walnut Street office entrance.
'Patch the Pirate' musical
POLAND -- Students at Gospel Baptist School in Poland will present "Patch the Pirate," Ron Hamilton's musical, at 7 p.m. Friday.
Admission is free and open to the public. The program is in the church auditorium at 6235 Clingan Road.
Anniversary celebration
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Beginnings Outreach Ministries, 322 Wick Ave., will celebrate its seven-year anniversary at 7 p.m. April 6.
On April 7 at 5 p.m., the church will honor Pastor Melvin D. Trent and first lady Julie Trent with a dinner buffet at the Holiday Inn on South Avenue in Boardman.
Adult tickets are 25 and children age 8 and under are 10.

Special service planned
CANFIELD -- Lifecare Ministry Center in Canfield will hold a special service at 7 p.m. Monday with special guest speaker Debbie Horvath-Shares, volunteer coordinator at Southern Care Hospice.
Horvath-Shares will be sharing her testimony from several life-threatening illnesses and how she feels called by God to help others.
Personal prayer ministry, anointing and prayer for the sick as well as for those called into the ministry will be after the testimony.
Annual prayer breakfast
GIRARD -- The 11th Annual Prayer Breakfast sponsored by Women of Purpose of Union Baptist Church will be at 9 a.m. April 21 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex in Liberty.
Rev. June P. Jefferies, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Vandergrift, Pa., will be the guest speaker.
