Warren man indicted in death of 2-year-old

The man will be arraigned today.
WARREN -- A 24-year-old city man is indicted in the beating death of 2-year-old Fred Miller.
A Trumbull County grand jury indicted Randall M. Thomas, of 1306 Fifth St., Apt. 5, Thursday on a charge of aggravated murder.
Thomas will be arraigned at 9 a.m. today in the Trumbull County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge W. Wyatt McKay.
Thomas was staying in the Fifth Street apartment with the boy, his stepbrother, Zachery Thomas, and his brother's girlfriend, Deborah Miller, when the boy was found injured.
Fred Miller died the next day, the result of a head injury. He also had bruises over a large portion of his body. The Summit County medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide.
If convicted, Thomas could be sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility, or parole eligibility after 20 or 30 years.
Paramedics called police
Police were called Feb. 28 by paramedics who were summoned to the apartment and noticed the boy's injuries.
Greg Hicks, Warren law director, said the boy's mother was at work at the time, and her boyfriend was picking her up when medical attention was summoned.
Randall Thomas was left alone with the boy on occasions, the law director explained. An ambulance was called to the apartment while the boy and Randall Thomas were alone at the residence.
Randall Thomas is in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of a 750,000 bond. He was arrested by Warren police March 12.
