Dog that attacked boy still on the loose

YOUNGSTOWN — A large black rottweiler that attacked a North Side boy Thursday afternoon has not yet been found by Mahoning County dog wardens.

Erich Jackson, 10, was playing outside his Madera Avenue home when he was knocked down and bitten by the dog.

Erica Jackson, Erich's mother, said she located a large black Rottweiler in her neighborhood today and believes the dog is the one who bit her son. Dave Nelson, the Mahoning County deputy dog warden, said he spent much of this afternoon knocking on doors in the neighborhood, but he was unable to find the dog.

If the dog isn't located and found to be in good heath within 10 days, Erich will need rabies shots, Nelson said.
