Bomb threat forces Bristol school evacuation
BRISTOLVILLE – About 800 students in the Bristol School District were evacuated from their classrooms early today because of a bomb threat. A search for an explosive device was called off this afternoon. No bomb was found.
High school Principal Gene Jones said the building that houses kindergarten through 12th grade was emptied shortly after pupils arrived when a threatening note was found in the building and turned over to him by a teacher. The students were slated for early dismissal today because it was the end of the grading period and were bussed home after being evacuated. They'll be back Monday.
On the scene were members of the county sheriff’s office, Cleveland Police Department Bomb Squad and Trumbull County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.
