Educator to speak at historical society luncheon in Niles


NILES — Longtime Niles educator Louie Tabor will share his life story when he speaks at a luncheon to be held by Niles Historical Society at noon April 18 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center, 123 Main St., where his poetry and paintings will be displayed.

In 1957 Tabor began his teaching career. He taught fifth grade at Washington Elementary for 14 years and sixth grade at Jackson Elementary as a teaching principal before becoming principal at Lincoln Elementary in 1987. He retired in 1991.

Admission for the meeting and Swiss steak lunch is $15. Tickets are available from any society member or by calling (330) 544-2143. Reservations are required by April 8.

Proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the Ward-Thomas House and Museum, where tours will be available from 2 to 5 p.m. April 1.
