YOUNGSTOWN -- H.O.W., Helping Other Women Inc., is offering financial literary classes, starting Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at 2622 Mahoning Ave. Thursday is the deadline to sign up; call (330) 797-5055. There will be a one-time registration fee, and light refreshments will be served.
Cook-off benefits literacy
TRANSFER, Pa. -- The third annual Mercer County chili cook-off sponsored by the Literacy Council of Mercer County, WYTV- Channel 33 and Time Warner Cable Co. will be held from noon to 3:30 p.m. April 27 at the Winner Institute of Arts and Sciences, 123 Edgewood Drive Extension.
Individuals and restaurants will compete in separate divisions to find out who is the chili master of Mercer County.
The chili cook-off supports literacy programs and raises awareness of Literacy Month in Mercer County.

Volunteers neededfor Easter projects
WARREN -- Warren Family Mission, 61 Elm Road, is asking the public to assist with Easter projects that will benefit families in the Warren area.
The mission is in need of donations of candy and Easter baskets for children and hams for family Easter food baskets.
Donations can be dropped off at the mission.
Volunteers are also being asked to help serve at an Easter dinner that will be open to the public from noon to 3 p.m. April 6 at the mission.
