Co. Commissioners asked to improve contracting policies

LISBON — As part of a planned $4 billion coal-to- liquid fuel plant, the Columbiana County commissioners have been asked to improve their contracting policies in anticipation of future jobs coming here.

Don Crane, the president of the Western Reserve Building & Construction Trades Council, told the commissioners today his suggestions were “food for thought.”

Any improvements, Crane added, would set a tone and would “help keep riffraff out of the county. It’s not about whether companies are union or nonunion.”
