Beloit schools will be closed for another day

BELOIT — Beloit Elementary School will be closed again Thursday while school officials and state health officials search for the cause of a rash that affected about three dozen children in the last week.

Superintendent Scott Weingart said the state Department of Health and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were conducting tests in the elementary school today but no results were available.

The elementary school is attached to West Branch Middle School, which also remains closed. However, the 600 middle school students are attending class in nearby West Branch High School and will remain there the rest of this week.

Weingart said there wasn't space to accommodate the 250 elementary pupils. It will be a day-by-day decision as to when the schools will re-open.
