Youngstown armed robber nets two transmissions

YOUNGSTOWN — Two automatic transmissions worth $2,000 were taken from Lou Vari Transmissions on Andrews Avenue by a man who pointed a gun at the owner, police said.

The owner, returning to the shop around 8:45 p.m. Monday, approached a parked car, spotted the transmissions in the rear hatch area and asked a man near the car what he was doing. The suspect said he would return the transmissions but then leaned into the car, pulled out a handgun and aimed it at the business owner.

The robber then drove off toward Wick Avenue.
