Readers' hints address sending vacation postcards
Dear Heloise: Here is a timesaving idea I came up with before leaving for a trip: I purchased some blank, self-adhesive address labels. While I was on the long flight, I filled out the address labels for people I wanted to send postcards to. When I got to my destination, all I had to do was buy the postcards, write a quick note and attach the label. This way, I didn't have to dig out my address book for every postcard, and I made sure I didn't forget anyone! Heather from Vermont
We also received an e-mail from Virginia in San Antonio, and she said that she pre-printed labels on her computer for people she wanted to send postcards to while on a cruise. Smart hints both! Heloise

Clip important reminders to the sun visor in your car.
Dear Heloise: I now realize how much time it takes to send thank-you notes after the death of a loved one. It takes hours of time to try to find addresses, especially out-of-town ones.
The next time I need to send a card, I will attach an address label of mine to the card to make it easier for the recipients to send a thank-you note. Florence M., Kansas City, Mo.
Dear Heloise: For a password, first select a couple of numbers or letters you'll never forget, like birth date, favorite numbers, etc. Then use the name of the company you need a password for. Your password would be something like 06Heloise14. The 06 would be June, Heloise would be the company and 14 is the day of the month. I would always use 06 and 14, but the name of the company would change. Carl G., via e-mail
Dear Heloise: Freeze buttermilk in ice-cube trays, transfer the frozen cubes into freezer bags and use as many as a recipe calls for. You will always have buttermilk! J.P. in Maryland
Dear Heloise: I read your list of helpful things to do when renting a car and noticed that one important thing was missing. Make sure that the renter has a valid driver's license. I knew someone who was supposed to rent a car and her license had expired, and she was stranded at the airport! P. Teesdale, via e-mail

Dear Heloise: Would you please ask the manufacturers of toilet tissue to put their name at the end of the bathroom tissue so we will know which brand to buy again? Thanks for all your help. Dixie Danielson, Spring, Texas
All right, Dixie, it's out there, and hopefully manufacturers will read it and put it into use. Heloise
