NOTEBOOK SteelHounds vs. Eagles

Final week: The SteelHounds final three regular season games are on the road: Friday at Memphis against the RiverKings, Saturday at Tulsa against the Oilers and Sunday at Bossier-Shreveport against the Mudbugs. The SteelHounds have a two-point lead over fifth-place Oklahoma City, but the Blazers have four games remaining.Playoffs: Because the SteelHounds can finish no higher than fourth in the Northern Conference, they will open the Central Hockey League playoffs on the road, either against Colorado, Bossier-Shreveport or Memphis. Because of travel constraints, SteelHounds coach Kevin Kaminski said the team will not return to Youngstown after the regular season ends Sunday. The first-round opponent will either be Colorado (the top seed), Bossier-Shreveport or Memphis.Next home games: The SteelHounds say their first-round home games for the first round will be played April 4, April 6 and (if necessary) April 7.No fallout yet: After Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Eagles, Kaminski argued on the ice with the linesmen Chris Allman and Andy Thackaberry for two minutes while referee Keith Kaval kept his distance. Frustrated because of faceoff that was moved out of the Eagles zone to center ice, Kaminski's anger built and he made a gesture of questionable taste before leaving the ice. The CHL has not issued a fine or penalty, but the speculation in the press box Sunday was that Kaminski won't be penalized because the call was a bad one.Suspended: SteelHounds defenseman Josh Reed was suspended for Sunday's game after kneeing Eagles forward Brent Hughes Saturday. Reed was ejected from Saturday's game after a match penalty was assessed.
Harley winner: Rudy Carpenter was selected as the winner in the SteelHounds Harley-Davidson motorcycle giveaway.
