Muckdogs batter Mahoning Valley


The Scrappers fell behind 9-2 before losing 10-3.

BATAVIA, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end against the Batavia Muckdogs Friday night, falling behind 9-2 in the fifth inning before eventually losing 10-3.

Jansy Infante went 3-for-5 to lead the Scrappers (6-5), who had 11 hits and stranded eight baserunners.

Juan Valdes also had three hits, while Todd Martin went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Leadoff hitter Adam White went 2-for-5 and scored a run.

Batavia cleanup hitter Andrew Brown had two doubles, driving in three runs and scoring twice to lead the Muckdogs (3-8), who are in last place in the Pickney Division.

The Scrappers are tied for second in the division, one game behind Williamsport.

Mahoning Valley starter William Delage (0-1) gave up four runs (three earned) to get the loss, while Joanniel Montero surrendered five runs (four earned) in two innings of relief. Mark Rodrigues pitched gave up the final run over the last two innings.

Davis Bilardello pitched 1⁄3 of an inning to get the win, while Brandon Garner held the Scrappers to one run over the final four innings to earn his first save of the season.

Late Thursday

Infante went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Mahoning Valley to a 12-7 win over Batavia on Thursday.

Martin added four hits, four RBIs and scored twice for the Scrappers, who took a 10-2 lead in the fifth. Valdes, Alex Castillo, Nick Petrucci, Matt Brown and Ramon Alvarado each added two hits.

Kyle Landis (1-0) pitched 21⁄3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.
