History comes to life in Warren


WARREN — Ohio Chautauqua events through Saturday downtown offer local music entertainment, theater and living history presentations.

The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, in cooperation with Warren-Trumbull Public Library, is sponsoring Ohio Chautauqua.

Warren is one of five cities that the Ohio Humanities Council chose to host the event, free and open to the public. Funding also has been provided by the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau

This year’s theme is World War II and will feature trained scholars and actors in costume playing the roles of historical figures under an old-fashioned tent at 303 Mahoning Ave.

Here’s is a list of the weekend events:

TODAY

10 a.m. Youth workshop with Doris Dwyer; Bombs, Skyscrapers and Images of World War II at the Warren-Trumbull Public Library.

2 p.m. Adult Worskshop with Angela Bartley; Women on the World War II Homefront at the Warren-Trumbull Public Library.

6:30 p.m. Girard Community Dance Band under the tent.

7:30 p.m. James Armstead as Benjamin O. Davis.

SATURDAY

10 a.m. Youth Workshop with Karen Vuranch; Stories from China at the Warren-Trumbull Public Library.

2 p.m. Adult Workshop with Doris Dyer; 20th Century Chronicle at Warren-Trumbull Public Library.

6:30 p.m. The Roberts Sisters under the tent.

7:30 p.m. Angela Bartley as Rosie the Riveter.
