Metros edge Pittsburgh Pandas


Roth Brothers won in a Youngstown AA League game.

YOUNGSTOWN — Anthony Porter hit two doubles and Dom Modarelli doubled to lead Youngstown Metros past Pittsburgh Pandas, 9-8, on Tuesday in a Tri State College League game at Pemberton Park.

Also with two hits were Jason Davis and Chester Kirkwood.

For the Pandas, Nick Wendell doubled.

Youngstown AA League

YOUNGSTOWN — Mike Sikorski homered and doubled to lead Roth Brothers to an 11-6 victory over Youngstown Metros Monday at Pemberton Park.

Mark Nightingale tripled and Adam Cox doubled for Roth. Wining pitcher Josh Conkey struck out seven.

For Metros, Jim Pasquine doubled.

Warren AA

WARREN — Girard Hardware scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat PI&I Express, 10-9, Tuesday at Packard Park.

Josh Camuso’s two hits drove in three runs while Steven Hughes and Matt Vukovic doubled while Andrew Beachy drove in two runs for Girard.

For PI&I, Chris Staley’s two hits included a double. Also with two hits were Brandon Wood, Tom Senich, Mike O’Neill and A.J. Pulice.

Callahan’s Irish Pub 14, Reds 5

Nick Pompeo drove in three runs with two hits to lead Callahan’s Irish Pub.

Also with two hits were Cliff Panezich, T.J. Revis, Anthony Maruca and Josh Miller.

For Reds, Mike Johnson had two hits.

Class B League

STRUTHERS — In a wild contest late Monday, Wharmby Sports scored seven times in the first inning then held on for a 10-9 victory over Dave Sugar Excavating at Cene Park.

Sugar Excavating scored eight runs in the second and third innings to tie the game at 8-8. Wharmby scored twice in the fifth inning.

Todd Finn had three hits and drove home three runs for Wharmby while Garen Ream tripled and doubled. Cory Johnson doubled and singled. With the tying and winning runs on base, John Thomas struck out the last two batters of the game for the save.

Mike Frasso had three hits for Sugar Excavating while Eric Pirtz doubled and tripled with three RBIs.

Jeff Musick, Justin Shaffer and Justin Gorgacz added two hits each for Sugar. Both teams are 12-11 and tied with Livi Steel for the fourth through sixth playoff spots.

All games Wednesday in the Class B League were postponed.
