YOUNGSTOWN — Gov. Ted Strickland will visit Youngstown State University on Friday to discuss the passage of the state’s $52.3 billion budget.

Strickland, a Democrat formerly of Lisbon, will talk about the budget at 9 a.m. at YSU’s Tod Hall.

Strickland is holding events Thursday in Columbus, Toledo and Cleveland about the budget and in Youngstown, Ironton, Cincinnati and Dayton on Friday.

The budget includes a two-year tuition freeze for all public colleges and universities, a homestead exemption tax cut for senior citizens who own homes and providing Medicaid coverage for more poor children.

The Ohio House and Senate passed the budget today. Strickland, who represented Columbiana County and a portion of Mahoning County in the U.S. House for four years, is expected to sign the bill this week.
