Some July 4th festivities

JULY 4 ACTIVITIES:

POLAND

This year’s Independence Day celebrations will occur on Friday, June 29. The events begin at 5 p.m. with a strawberry festival at Poland Presbyterian Church until 8 p.m. At 7 p.m. the fireman’s parade will begin. Line up for the parade begins at 6 p.m. on Poland Village Boulevard. The route continues on Coblentz Drive to Main Street, ending at village hall. To participate in the parade, call the Western Reserve Joint Fire Department at (330) 757-8268.

Fireworks will be at 10 p.m., shot off from the field behind village hall. There is no seating available there. June 30 is the rain date for the fireworks.

At 10:30 p.m. the first Yellow Creek Theatre outdoor movie of the summer will be shown. “Casablanca” starts off the weekly movies, which continue on Friday nights at 9 p.m. or dark until Sept. 14. Parking is available at the Poland Library parkling lot. All events are sponsored by Poland’s Town One Streetscapes. Check out http://yctmovies.com for more information. ok

HOWLAND

An 8 a.m. 5 kilometer Stripes Run and Walk sponsored by St. Joseph Medical Center will be at 8 a.m. July 4th at the high school football stadium. Forms are available at YMCA, YWCA, St. Joseph’s, St. Joseph Urgent Care and township administration building, 205 Niles-Cortland Road.

A 10 a.m. parade beginning at Hunter’s Square Plaza. Numerical lineup will be distributed at 8:30 a.m. at the plaza.

Activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. includes games, entertainment, face painting, food, and music by Top Notes and Take II at East Market Street and Willow Drive.

Registration for the car show will be at 11 a.m. for a $5 fee with judging at noon. Prizes will be awarded.

Pet parade at noon. Prizes will be given for cutest, smartest, best dressed, best behaved and most unusual.

NILES

A parade will be SaturdayJune 30. ok Parade will begin at 7 p.m. at Dragon Drive. The route is Dragon, Federal Street, state Route 46, Robbins Avenue to State Street. A fireworks display will be at 10 p.m. July 4.
