Mill Creek director to retire Sept. 28

CANFIELD — After 21 years with Mill Creek MetroParks — the last five as executive director — Susan Dicken will retire Sept. 28.

“I’ve been in environmental planning for over 30 years, so it’s time,” said Dicken of Boardman.

Both of her sons are on their own. Evan recently married and earned a Fulbright scholarship. He’s studying at the Stanford Center in Yokohama, Japan.

Scott, a graduate of ITT Technical Institute, Youngstown, and is working in the computer field in Columbus.

She’s enjoyed her time at the park’s helm but says it’s a time-consuming job.

“Now that my kids are on their own, I want to do some other things,” the executive director said.
