YOUNGSTOWN — Two Foster Street residents were charged with aggravated menacing, criminal damaging and resisting arrest after a dispute with neighbors at 11 p.m. Saturday. Aaron Wright, 20, was arrested after a neighbor told police he banged on their door and said, “We’ll kill you by morning.” Police were told two groups of residents were arguing over rent payments. Mamie Brown, 36, also was arrested. Reports said she came onto her front porch after Wright was taken into custody and threatened to shoot a neighbor and police.

Road closure planned
for Fourth of July parade

AUSTINTOWN — Raccoon Road will be closed between Kirk Road and Falcon Drive between 2 and 4 p.m. July 4 for the township’s annual parade. Traffic will be detoured along Kirk Road, Meridian Road and Mahoning Avenue.

Mosquito spraying scheduled in Niles

NILES — Mosquito spraying will be done Wednesday after 6 p.m. If it rains, spraying will be the next day. Those with respiratory problems should remain indoors with the windows closed. Food should not be prepared or left outside during the spraying period and all pets should be taken indoors.

Historian will talk about ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd

COLUMBIANA — Timothy Brookes, an East Liverpool attorney and historian, will talk about Charles Arthur “Pretty Boy” Floyd at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Columbiana Public Library. Floyd was a colorful Depression-era bank robber who was killed near East Liverpool in 1934. Registration is required by calling (330) 482-5509.

Renovations started

Way Station

COLUMBIANA — The Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, has begun renovations, to be completed sometime in the fall. The renovations are to help make services at the Way Station more efficient and user friendly to the community. Hours of operation, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, will remain the same as much as possible, however there may be a need to close periodically. Only clothing and food pantry donations will be accepted during these times. The Way Stations in East Liverpool and Lisbon will remain open as usual during their normal hours. The Columbiana Way Station is asking the public to call ahead before dropping off donations or coming in for services. To call ahead or for more information, call (330) 482-5072.

Meeting set to talk about NAMI walk

AUSTINTOWN — An informational meeting about the Mahoning Valley’s inaugural National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Walk on Oct. 20 will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Parish Center, 4490 Norquest Blvd. Refreshments will be served.
