Councilwoman Chris Yash to serve as Poland mayor

POLAND — Councilwoman Chris Yash will became mayor Sunday with the resignation of Mayor Ruth Wilkes.

Wilkes has resigned her position effective Sunday to become grants management director for Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann’s office. She has been mayor for 18 years.

Yash was unanimously named councilwoman pro tempore at a special meeting today by fellow lawmakers. By state law, Yash, who has been a legislator here since 1992, becomes mayor because of her pro tem position.
