Special diet program will continue
WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners have awarded Trumbull Mobile Meals Inc. $19,999 to extend its special diet program.
Trumbull Mobile services 270 clients daily and delivers 280 to 470 meals each day through the use of volunteers.
The money provided during the board’s Wednesday meeting to extend the special meals program is from the county senior levy.
Sandra Mathews, agency executive director, said the special meals include no sugar, low fat, bland and renal diets for those on dialysis.
In addition, the commissioners:
UAwarded a $51,810 contract to Diorio Paving Inc. of Girard to partially resurface Mock and Ruth streets, Sunset Drive and Princeton Avenue in Hubbard. The city’s share is $17,810.
UAuthorized the county planning commission to apply for $300,000 in community development block grant money to help pay for a $1.4 million sanitary sewer project in Warren Township. It would provide sanitary sewers to Glunt Industries, Horvath Mobile Home Park and some area businesses and residences.
UAuthorized the planning commission to seek $300,000 in Neighborhood Revitalization Program funds and $473,000 in CDBG funds that will be used to revitalize the Bolindale section of Howland Township. It will include improvements such as storm sewers, streets and demolition of old structures.
