Occupation: Boardman High teacher for 29 years (history and business) and Liberty High’s new varsity boys basketball coach.
Background: Gorski graduated from Ursuline High in 1974. He was a three-year varsity basketball letterman for Coach Frank Beck. He was named outstanding defensive player his senior year.
College: He attended Adrian College in Michigan, earning two letters in basketball and one in golf. His degree is a bachelor of arts degree in social studies comprehensive. He received his masters degree in secondary administration in 1984 from Youngstown State University.
Honors: In 2001, he was head coach of the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star game. Three times, he was selected as head coach for the Mahoning Valley Coaches All-Star games. He also was named MVCA Coach of the Year five times.
Spartans: In his 16 years as Boardman’s varsity coach, the Spartans won four Steel Valley Conference basketball championships. Thirteen former players continued collegiate basketball careers and eight former players have become coaches.
