Man arrested on drug and weapons charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Police said a traffic stop led to the arrest of a Mabel Street man on weapon and drug charges. Officers pulled over a car in the 500 block of Cameron Avenue late Tuesday. Police said Michael Johnson Jr., 18, was in the passenger seat.

They ordered him out of the car and said they found two small plastic bags of suspected crack cocaine on the seat. While Johnson was being taken into custody, he told officers there was a gun beneath his seat, police said. They recovered a handgun and charged Johnson with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of cocaine. He spent the night in Mahoning County jail and was freed on $10,000 bond following his arraignment Thursday.

Police said a check on the driver of the car, Ciera M. Buckman, 19, of Ferndale Avenue, showed that her license had been suspended. She was given a summons to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension, police said.
