Humane Society adoption fair slated
SALEM — The kitties are calling you.
Cellular One, 1098 E. State Street will host an adoption fair for the Humane Society of Columbiana County (HSCC) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A mobile adoption unit containing about 50 cats and kittens will be onsite. Pancho, Paco and Jasmina are three of the 25 cats and kittens abandoned locally when their owner moved away.
June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month. Shelters nationwide are overflowing with cats and kittens this time of year due to a severe pet overpopulation crisis. Caring residents are desperately needed to adopt homeless animals. HSCC offers discounted adoption fees to senior citizens and qualified low income residents to assist them in obtaining spayed and neutered pets which will not reproduce. Each new adopter will be presented with an adoption kit and a homemade catnip toy made by Girl Scout Troop 646 in Poland.
Interested people should call the society at (330) 332-2600, or visit www.humanecc.petfinder.com/.
