Disney's 'High School Musical' slated in Boardman


BOARDMAN — Boardman Community Theater will stage Disney’s “High School Musical” Thursday through Saturday at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

Tyler Freeland of Lisbon High School plays Troy Bolton, the basketball player and potential singer. Canfield High School’s Kristen Ruchtie portrays Gabriella, the female lead. Boardman students David Lawson and Lauren Gronvall assume the roles of Sharpay and Ryan, while Lindsay Heath of South Range High plays Taylor McKissie, the class president and captain of the academic team. Boadman’s Mike Long and Cardinal Mooney’s Paul Sauline play teammates Chad and Zeke.

The 80-member cast is made of students from Boardman, Canfield, Poland, Springfield, South Range, Mineral Ridge, Cardinal Mooney, Youngstown, Columbiana, Lisbon and Salem.

The musical is directed by David Mullane with vocal coaching by Errol Kehrberg and choreography by Jeannine Hodge. Other production team members include Glenn Sivak and Nick Opritza. The student director will be Courtney Crossen, a sophomore at Kent State University, and stage manager is Randi Yazvac, a Boardman High School senior.

“High School Musical” opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday; additional performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
