Rings stolen from jewelry store

BOARDMAN — A Southern Park Mall store is out about $30,000 in jewelry after three men distracted employees and took six solitaire rings.

Employees at Fred Meyer Jewelers told police that three men came into the store Monday afternoon. One asked to see some watches while the other two went to the ring case.

One employee helped the man at the watches while a second employee helped with the rings.

When the men had left, employees noticed a tray of rings missing.

They reviewed the store video and saw that as one man distracted the employee, holding a ring, the other reached into the case and grabbed the tray of rings, hiding them in his shirt.

All three men then left the store.
