Man wanted by police

YOUNGSTOWN — A Sunshine Avenue man accused of starting a small fire as part of a dance routine in a parking lot near his home is a wanted man.

Howard L. Ramey, 44, failed to show up in municipal court Monday for arraignment on a charge of open burning. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police said they were called to the 1100 block of Sunshine around 9 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of someone burning some things and found Ramey, who told them he had poured a small stream of gasoline and ignited it as part of a dance routine he was performing for his neighbors. The routine required him to dance over the flames, he said.

Police issued him a summons and told him to report for arraignment at 10 a.m. Monday.

Kidnapping warrant

WARREN — Police have obtained a warrant charging a 19-year-old Warren man with kidnapping in the weekend abduction of a 3-year-old boy. The warrant is for Marcus A. Chaney, of North Leavitt Road. Police are also seeking a 17-year-old male. Both are the toddler’s uncles.

David Williamson of Transylvania Avenue Southeast told police that his son, Davyon, was kidnapped at gunpoint by two men and a woman while he was visiting on Feederle Drive about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police stopped the car the woman was driving at Tod Avenue and Fifth Street, and Chaney and the juvenile fled on foot. Davyon was returned to his father.

The woman was not charged because she cooperated with police.
