Man pleads guilty to rape, robbery

YOUNGSTOWN — A 20-year-old Brentwood Avenue man is facing a six- to 91-year prison term after pleading guilty to robbery, rape, kidnapping and felonious assault charges, with the prosecution recommending 18 years.

Ivory Young entered his pleas Wednesday before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who will sentence him at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 15.

Two days before Christmas, Young dragged a woman by her pony tail from Glenwood Avenue, raped her and robbed her of $300 and two winning lottery tickets at gunpoint behind a discount store on her 21st birthday, said Dawn Krueger, assistant county prosecutor.

In that case, where Young’s DNA was found on the woman, Young pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, kidnapping and two counts of rape, and Krueger dropped the gun specifications.

In a March 27 encounter, Young pleaded guilty as charged to kidnapping, felonious assault and three counts of aggravated robbery, with firearm specifications to all counts, in the abduction, pistol-whipping and multiple robberies of an elderly Campbell woman.

Young robbed the woman of $20, abducted her from outside her residence, dragged her to her car and forced her into its passenger side, Krueger said. Young then drove to an ATM, forced her out of the car and forced her to withdraw $20 from the ATM. He then robbed her of that, pistol-whipped her on her head, left her behind and fled in her car, Krueger added.
