Errors costly for Rondinelli in loss


R&J Trucking took advantage early in a Class B victory.

STRUTHERS — R&J Trucking took advantage of a pair of errors by Rondinelli Tuxedo to score four runs — three unearned — in the first inning and went on to post a 6-4 victory in a Class B League game Wednesday at Cene Park.

R&J Trucking improved to 11-2 in the league, while Rondinelli slipped to 10-2.

Matt Pitzullo had three hits, while Joe Iacobucci and Scooter Hargate had two hits each for R&J. Dom Sylvestri (4-0) went the first 41⁄3 innings for the win, while Jared Barker tossed 21⁄3 innings for the save, his first. Barker had four strikeouts.

Frank Rosile had a triple and a double while Cory Nesbitt added two hits for the Rondinelli. Robert Switka (1-1) suffered the loss.

Action Physical Therapy 11,
Youngstown Express 0

Action Physical Therapy (6-6) pounded out 13 hits to defeat Youngstown Express (0-13).

Jarry Summers had three hits, drove in two runs and pitched first four shutout innings for the win, his second, He struck out six. Josh Rodondi, Dan Keil, and Mike Backes added two hits each for ACT.

Dan Gallagher had two of the four Express hits.

Simon Roofing 2, Roth Brothers 1

Kevin Koval's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove home the game winning run as Simon Roofing came from behind to defeat Roth Brothers.

Brad Bates (2-1) picked up the relief win for Simon (4-9).

Danny Sacui had three hits for Roth (3-10) while Pat Mulligan (1-3) went the distance in defeat. He allowed no earned runs and had seven strikeouts.

Dave Sugar Excavating 5,
Wharmby Sports 4, 8 innings

Jeff Musick drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning to force in the winning run for Dave Sugar (5-7).

The walk scored Mike Frasso, who started the inning with a double, and made a winner out of Jake Thomas. Thomas (1-1) went the distance, allowing two earned runs with 12 strikeouts. Justin Shaffer had a single and a double for Sugar.

Brian Szabo had a pair of hits while Tyler Womer had three, including a double, for Wharmby (6-6).

R&J Trucking 6, Astro Falcons 4

Lou Coppola pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and one earned run, as R&J won late Tuesday.

Josh Gardner had a double for R&J.

D.J. Haurin and Mike Dota hit triples for Astro, and Joe Iacobucci had a two-run single.

Warren AA League

WARREN — Aaron Johnstone and Tom Popadak combined on a three-hitter to lead Champion Marlins over Callahan’s Irish Pub, 3-2, Tuesday.

Johnstone struck out 12 over 61⁄3 innings, and Popadak finished up.

Jason Johnson had two hits for Champion, while Eric Nachreiner tripled and Jeff Speck doubled.

Cliff Panezich and Brian George hit doubles for Callahan’s.

Girard Hardware 7, PI&I Express 2

Pete Goche had three hits, while Andy Kalman, Nate King, Nick Cantarino and Kevin Nastase had two apiece for Girard. Cantarino hit a double, and Mark Brown had two RBIs.

Brandon Wood, Dave Patrick and Tom Senich had doubles for PI&I, while Mark Tringaze added a pair of singles.

Skiffey Dental 1

Rick DiMuzio had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs to lead the Knights. Greg Barton and Steve Boxler also had doubles, and Carmen DeChristofaro went four innings to earn the win.

Adam Morgan and Mike Hanck hit doubles for Skiffey.
