True Body Project Girls' Camp at Hope Springs Institute

A wellness camp for teen girls

The project aims to empower girls and women to discover their true bodies and voices. The week-long program in June incorporates yoga, Pilates, tai chi, writing, art, nature and offers an organic menu.

The family-run camp, featured on MTV, ABC's 20/20 and The Discovery Channel, is co-ed for children 7-17-years-old. There is also a program for young women 17-25 years old.

The program runs in three-, six- and nine-week intervals and incorporates nutrition and cooking classes, portion control, sports, arts/crafts and cognitive behavioral therapy to achieve weight loss.

Cost: $3,100-$7,150.

The private camp, which opened in 1954, has 2-, 4- and 8-week sessions that include horseback-riding, climbing, ecology, Indian-lore, archery, riflery, canoeing and sailing.

The camp uses extreme science, arts and crafts to teach space exploration. The virtual Astrolab gives campers the chance to pilot a space craft and dock it at faraway space stations. Guided Discoveries also has other camps, including Sea Camp, which features SCUBA, snorkeling, marine science, sailing, beach parties and seafood cookery.

Cost: $800 for five days of Astro Camp (not including transportation) and $3,100 per three-week session for Sea Camp.
