Trumbull sheriff's administrators appeal pay-raise reductions

WARREN — Two of the administrators in the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department whose raises were reduced last spring have filed an appeal with the Ohio Personnel Board of Review to get the larger raises restored.

Maj. Bob Davis and Maj. Jim Phillips saw their raises reduced in March to $1.77 per hour over two years — from $26.83 to $28.60 per hour. They each made $60,834 in 2006.

Sheriff Thomas Altiere had granted them raises of $6.70 per hour over 30 months several days earlier but decided the local economy could not support the larger raises after some public outcry about the wage hikes.

They were two of six administrators who had originally been granted raises of between $4.25 and $8.71 more per hour but saw the raises reduced a short time later.
